Ive spent countless hours tonight checking all the usual quad letter domain venues including TDNAM, Ebay, Sedo, Namepros, DomainState and Snap. In doing so I’ve stumbled on one problem: The buying strategy I used last week just isn’t working this week! Setting a limit of $40 per name just isn’t enough!

Due to the overwhelming success of the site I have reached a point where I have no room for further expansion. This just simply will not do! I want to change the site for a number of reasons but thought I would post first just incase readers think they have made a typo in the address bar. I feel that the current template is too dark, makes the text and links difficult to read and just doesn’t utilise the limited space I have.

In an effort to understand in which direction the LLLL.net market is heading and to understand its growth, every month I will carry out a scan of all premium LLLL.net’s. In the future if (when) all premium four letter dot net’s have been registered I will expand my search and scan all 456,976 possible combinations to analyse the entire market. For now though I will focus on quad premium names until they are all registered.

As much as I like to concentrate on LLLL.com’s because in this market we are seeing the greatest appreciation, I still have a vested interest in anything quad letter. For this reason I will always continue my research into other areas of the quad letter domain market and it is with other TLD’s that market trends vary and help to increase the price of four letter dot com’s.

I have been participating in many auctions on Ebay for LLLL.com’s lately. Today a particular auction caught my eye. The domain for sale was OHUF.com for which I was willing to bid up to $100-$120. I watched the auction end at $156.50, not a bad sale for a triple premium VCVC combination but nothing amazing, or is it? I think so, and the reason is that after the auction closed I was scrolling through my ‘Items I Didn’t Win’ and noticed that I had previously bid on the very same name.

It seems that the LLLL.com market is so fluid at this moment in time, sellers are having trouble valuing their names or, if they do, are being cautious and listing their names for sale at over inflated prices. I have been searching the usual selling venues today and I’ve seen rapidly diminishing numbers of quad letter dot com’s available at reasonable ‘buy-it-now’ prices.

For the past twenty four hours or so my hosting provider has had some issues with multiple servers and communication links so the site has been a bit intermittent or hasn’t been accessible at all. However, do not fear, it seems the problems have been rectified which means I will be updating the site very soon with more news, views and articles on four letter domain market trends and of course, my own personal experience!

An excellent sale for the previous owner of the domain which sold today on Sedo for $15,000. It certainly looks like an end user sale although on closer inspection its history may be to its disadvantage dependant on what the new owner will be using it for. The domain started life way back in 1998 and was being used by a company providing web hosting services. It seems the domain was dropped in 1999 and re-registered to host an adult related site from 2000 until 2004 when, at that point, it was listed for sale on Sedo.

To be fully involved in any domain niche I think it’s important that you both buy and sell domains. As much as I want to keep my four letter domain investment locked away for a year or two to see a healthy ROI, I thought I would test the water on Ebay last week and list a triple premium.

I’m shocked! A member of Namepros posted in the LLLL.com sales report thread today linking to an Ebay user who was listing quad letter domains for just $4.95! That’s less than reg fee! This is ridiculous! It just goes to show that you can pick up some very cheap names from people who are not fully aware of the market. Here is a sample of some of the names sold:
