Site downtime Ebay - An interesting auction!
Jan 17

It seems that the LLLL.com market is so fluid at this moment in time, sellers are having trouble valuing their names or, if they do, are being cautious and listing their names for sale at over inflated prices. I have been searching the usual selling venues today and I’ve seen rapidly diminishing numbers of quad letter dot com’s available at reasonable ‘buy-it-now’ prices.

The ‘buy-it-now’ four letter dot com’s available on TDNAM, Namepros and Ebay are starting to dry up. This isn’t by any means ‘the end’ of fixed price LLLL.com sales but a shift in current seller habits because, as the market stands now, it is very hard to put a price on four letter domains. Prices are fluctuating constantly and names can sell cheap, below market value in some auctions, or reach excessively high prices in others. The trade venue makes a big difference and this is confusing sellers!

The shift is moving in the direction of increased quad letter domain auctions or ’make offer’ listings. I imagine that this shift is only temporary and may not last very long at all but sellers simply can’t value their names with the current market growth and because they have seen that the best return can be had at auction. It seems that this is helping to further increase their value because no one is prepared to make a firm decision as to the worth of their names and therefore noone is selling cheap.

My advice, as always, is to participate as much as possible and as far as your budget will allow using educated and researched bidding and to keep an eye out for those fixed price domains that have been undervalued or could be flipped with little effort for a decent profit.
