Its been a few days since I looked at the ‘buy now’ prices of 4 letter dot com domains at TDNAM and it seems that LLLL.com’s for less than $100 are long gone. Just a few days ago there were still names available to ‘buy now’ for $75-$99. The minimum buy now price for a LLLL.com at TDNAM is now $119 and there is only one at that price. There are three domains available at $125, thirteen at $145, twenty three at $149 and two at $199 each. The price then escalates to over $248 per domain after this!
It makes me wonder just how long it will be before we start to see a minimum buy now price at this market venue of $200 per four letter domain. Obviously there are still domains to be had for less than $100 each at other venues (mainly domain forums or through private sales) but how long will this last when prices are still on the increase and big domain venues such as TDNAM have such a big influence on market trends?
I spotted a couple of bargains the last time I checked the ‘buy now’ listings at TDNAM, but this time round, with the current value of 4 letter domains, the ones that are listed below $200 are still, in my opinion, overpriced, but of course in the near future this should change and if the domain owners don’t revise their pricing they could easily become bargains themselves. However, I would suggest that for the moment you look elsewhere to buy up more quad letter dot com’s at fixed prices or alternatively you could participate in TDNAM auctions.

since it apparently takes about 35 days for a seller to receive the purchase price (minus TDNAM’s cut) after the sale - then it doesn’t make sense for sellers to list any LLLL.com at less than the higher price they might expect to get from doing the same sale a month from now … I understand that Sedo also sometimes likes to take its sweet time transferring payment to the seller.
This seems like an unfortunate inefficiency getting in the way of fair “market pricing” for LLLL.com and any other fast-moving domain category …

Thats a very good point you raise Dan and I also agree with you that at these big after market venues efficiency in getting sales completed is pretty lax… Although I must admit the sales ive completed at Sedo have been pretty quick… I guess I’ve just been one of the lucky ones!

Yes i do agree there are not any more domains at buy it now price less than $100. But everyday many are selling less than $80 in the auctions. So i think there is still a long time before we reach a price tag of 200.
