‘Short’ domains finally recognised! Dropping 4 letter domains
Feb 25

Dollar BillsA thread started recently at Digital Point saw a member ask the question “Where should I sell my LLLL.com domains?”. The reason for the question was becasue they were having trouble selling their names at any of the usual market venues. Aside from the recent decrease in LLLL.com demand, providing you offer them for sale at a reasonable price they will sell.

So why was this domain owner having such a hard time selling his names? Simple, because of the payment options he offered to prospective buyers. In selling domains it is vital that you open accounts with the largest sales venues, forums and more importantly payment sites to reach the widest audience possible. The seller would only accept AlertPay and ePassporte. These payment sites are not particularly well known and many prospective buyers either wouldn’t have an account with them or wouldn’t even want to use them.

My advice is, where possible, to open a PayPal account* or a MoneyBookers account. Also, work hard at gaining a good solid reputation. This can be invaluable in the future when you want to complete smaller bank transactions without incurring additional fees. In many cases highly respected, well known and regular forum members with positive feedback reap the rewards of having a ‘reputation beyond repute’.

The advice needed by the original thread starter at Digital Point wasn’t where to sell his/her names but HOW to sell them!

I also refer you to an article I wrote last month entitled ‘Registrars affect sales, FACT!‘. This is, and always will be, another reason why some of your domains may not sell as well, if at all, when compared to other domains you may own.

*Please be aware that there are a lot of PayPal scammers targeting LLLL.com owners at the moment. Before using PayPal make sure you know who you are dealing with first. You can read more about this topic on Namepros here.
