Spotted! My first BQB.com purchase!
May 11

Sitting in traffic a few days ago, initially I was oblivious to what was staring me in the face while I idly tapped along to music on the steering wheel. It was then that I had the idea of publishing evidence of four letter domains in use by end users when I noticed that the company van in front of me was utilising a quad letter domain!

The company, M&M Asset Maintenance Ltd, has registered mmam.info to host their website and email. In this instance it seems they have made the right choice using a four letter domain because the company name consists of four core words. They could have chosen from many other options available including ‘mamam’ or ‘mamaml’ but shorter certainly is better especially when you have such an easy letter combination for clients to remember.

M&M Asset Maintenance Ltd

I assume they decided to use their company name acronym because ‘mandmassetmaintenance’ would be quite a mouthful and it would be very easy to read incorrectly as ‘mand masset maintenance’ or something similar.

The domain itself has been registered since september 2005 but its .com and .net counterparts are far older which suggests at the time this was the only suitable available extension. It would be interesting to know if the company did, however, have to purchase the domain in the aftermarket and if they approached the owner of the .com before deciding for what ever reason the .info was the best option.

Proof that even short domains with, whats considered a very weak extension, have end users. It’s also excellent to see an ‘AABA’ combination being utilised by an end user. Many domainers consider triple repeating domains to be collectables and nothing more but the use of this domain proves otherwise.

I will continue my search for quad letter domains in use over the coming weeks and invite you to send in any pictures or links to websites hosted on four letter domains to richard@quadletterdomains.com and I will publish the evidence!
