Aside from the sale of Jaho.com that was finalised last week there has been little significant quad letter domain activity at the main arenas according to DNJournal’s mid-late June sales report. In fact there have been just eight reported LLLL.com sales over $2k and a mere smattering of global contender transactions.
The domain ASIA.net sold at the Moniker T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Auction on the 18th June 2008 for $50,000, but its NOT a four letter domain! It’s a geographic dictionary generic. It still amazes me that so many people compare high quality dictionary generics with random quad letter domains.
DNJournal reported a huge list of quad letter domain sales including 15 LLLL.com’s 5 LLLL.net’s, 3 LLLL.org’s, 1 LLLL.mobi and even a LLLL.de yesterday. An impressive amount of four letter domain sales which should boost the confidence of any investor in this niche considering the recent decline in reseller values.
There is only one four letter domain in the DNJournal Domain Sales Report this week. Show.org was sold privately for $13K but its a dictionary word and shouldn’t be included in any reseller sales analysis. In any case, an encouraging sale for any .org enthusiast although in my opinion the plural ’shows’ may better serve the needs of the new owner but it really does depend on how the name will be used in the future.
