I have decided to publish a month in review article at the end of every month to highlight exactly what has happened over the past thirty days or so. Throughout May it has been another interesting month in the quad letter domain marketplace and just in case you have missed some important articles here are ‘the best bits’.
I consistently encounter people who are unsure as to what certain descriptive groups of letters mean when looking to buy four letter domains. For this reason I have put together a glossary specifically for quad letter domains. I have added it as a new ‘page’ rather than a ‘post’ so that it is easy to find in the future. You can find links to this page and all of the other pages including links and lists at the top of the site along the grey bar.
It was good to see a lot of interest in the quad letter domains up for grabs last night at the Namepros Live Auction. With over 130 bidders ‘in the room’ it was a good turnout although this meant it was hard to snag an absolute bargain but there was still some good deals available.
Sitting in traffic a few days ago, initially I was oblivious to what was staring me in the face while I idly tapped along to music on the steering wheel. It was then that I had the idea of publishing evidence of four letter domains in use by end users when I noticed that the company van in front of me was utilising a quad letter domain!
I have observed some excellent examples of quad letter domains being used by end users recently so I have created a new catagory called ‘Spotted’. On my travels or even when I am simply online I aim to record and publish evidence of four letter domains being put to good use by end users.
When I entered the four letter domain market I started out with LLLL.com’s but quickly began investing in other domain extensions because I think it is important to understand every aspect of your market. Activity surrounding one domain extension can heavily affect another as we have seen with LLLL.net’s in recent times.
I hadn’t checked my Sedo domain statistics for a couple of weeks and had left everything running in the background while I worked on other projects. I logged into my Sedo account this morning to find an ‘unusual phenomenon’! One of my quad letter domains had somehow racked up approximately $50 in revenue. It’s very bizarre considering I’ve had this name since the end of 2007 and it has sat happily alongside my other domains pulling in the odd click here and there but nothing quite this ’substantial’.
